Just like in real life we all have different shapes and sizes of our bodies, and we need clothes that fit our specific figure. In SL, clothes and hair often contains prims. These prim clothes/hair are made to fit the creators shape and sizes. If you don't have the exact same shape as the creator, the prims might need fitting. This is something every avatar have to learn, but it's not hard at all once you get the hang of it.
1. Make a copy of the prim you intend to fit. This is in case you make a mistake, so you can go back to the original. ( Right click on the prim item in your inventory and select "copy". Right click on the folder it is in, and select "paste")
2. Wear the prim.
3. With the prim on, right click on it and select "Edit". Arrows will show up on the prim, this means you can move the prim around by dragging the arrows in different directions. If the prim is too big/small, moving it in different directions isn't enough. Then you will need to select the stretch tool in the menu. White boxes will show up around the prim which you can click-drag to scale the prim.
All prim clothes and hair can be fitted, except for hair demos. Expect to make some mistakes in the beginning, but since you always have a copy in your inventory you can always go back and try again.
